About Soma

Soma is a generic medication that can help people to save on the cost of medication. It is used for the alleviation of pain due to muscle spasms and the pain of straining the muscles. It is taken three times per day orally, once at breakfast, lunch and dinner. It should be taken with food to avoid getting an upset stomach with this medication. It is usually taken in 350 mg doses and when it is not taken with food Soma can cause an upset stomach.

Those who are 12 or younger should not take Soma, nor should those who suffer from acute intermittent porphyria. Ask a doctor about taking Soma if a patient suffers from kidney or liver disease. They may need a special lower dose or they may not be able to take Soma. It is still unknown what they results of taking Soma while pregnant are. It is not recommended to take Soma while breastfeeding because it is still unknown if Soma is passed trough the breast milk. So those who are pregnant should first ask a doctor before taking Soma.

If a dose of Soma is missed, it can be taken within an hour. If the dose is remembered more than an hour after it should have been taken, the dose should be skipped. Never take more than one dose at one time to catch up with the doses or for any other reason.

Soma can cause side effects such as head ache, irritability, depression, syncope, tremors, ataxia, vertigo and insomnia. Allergies to Soma do exist. This can cause allergic reactions such as rashes, pruritus, eosinophilia, erythema multiforme and several other reactions that have been reported with users of Soma. There are also some types of severe reactions that can cause serious complications such as hypotension, weakness, fever, and asthmatic episodes.

Those who take an overdose of Soma should see a doctor or seek emergency medical attention immediately. Taking too much Soma can cause unconsciousness, low blood pressure, fainting and problems breathing. Those who are starting Soma should be cautious when driving or operating machinery because Soma can cause drowsiness or dizziness. Alcohol can make these side effects worse so alcohol should be used with caution when taking Soma.
